Cargo Lift

When I'm in Singapore, I have always wondered if there is anything stark difference between the Passenger Lift and the Cargo Lift. Other than the cargo lift being bigger, and always hidden in some secluded corner (especially in the shopping centres), I thought not much.

Until I had to take the cargo lift for a couple of months to a certain office.... and I was staring at the lift buttons...

And I noticed a queer button because it is located at the bottom where I usually find the "Door Open" or "Door Close" buttons...

Hmm... "Open Hold"??

So what is the difference from the "Door Open" button?
Apparently when you activated the "Open Hold" button, the lift will remain open for as long as the button is activated without making any noise that the door has been opened for too long (you will usually get that when you are in the Passenger Lift). And obviously cargoes handling do take some time and thus it isn't nice to have someone to keep pressing the "Door Open" button when he/she is busy carrying the cargoes into the lift.

I have to admit this is one very useful button.. and I learn something new =D
