Of course it is possible to tour Venice solely by foot but the tendency to get lost into these lookalike streets or to realise you are on the wrong side of the canal.

And whether you want to buy it on the spot or online, you will definitely have to make a trip down to Venice Connected Point to collect the card. One such Venice Connected Point can be found right outside the Venezia S. Lucia Train Station. As you step out of the train station, you will see many little booths selling tickets. Look towards your right for Venice Connected Point.
p/s: It is an irony though that they told me no queue but I ended up in a long queue on a rainy day.
