Scrimp and Save Tip - Travel in Melbourne

10*2 hours tram tickets in Melbourne!

I think the best way to travel in Melbourne is via tram.
A typical 2 hour tram ticket will costs you 3.20 AUD. By buying the 10*2 hours tram tickets for 29.40 AUD, you can hop onto as many trams as you like within the first 2 hours. And if you exceed the 2 hours and still needed to take tram, the next validation hours last you till 3am.

In addition, if you board the tram after 6pm, it will also last you till 3am.

You can buy the tickets at any convenience store (I usually buy mine in 7-11).

Note that if you only travel in City area, you can just get the city saver which is cheaper. However it is only for single trips.

Alternatively, if you really want to drive around in Melbourne, I did check out the parking rate in my apartment..

which I don't find it cheap haha.

The situation is almost similar out of my apartment. But I do know that there are roads that you can actually park for free at a certain time. I am still unable to decipher the sign though. Thus currently, I only know that the lane outside my apartment can be parked for free at night. Elsewhere roads at Bourke street and Franklin street can also be parked for free at night.

Otherwise, you will just have to decipher the parking sign and pay for the parking approrpiately. Which reminds me, I always wonder how come the local are so honest to just buy the coupon ticket on their own accord. If they don't get caught, they probably can get away with free parking. I guess mutual trust plays an important role.
