Visit San Lorenzo Market

From Piazza San Lorenzo to Via dell'Ariento, all around the Basilica of San Lorenzo (in the very historical center of the city) there is a lovely market that sells a wide variety of clothing, articles in leather, souvenirs, etc.

The souvenirs are so cheap compared to the previous cities that I have visited that we started grabbing a handful (including other cities) back home.

If you have time, you can also pop by the Basilica of San Lorenzo.

Consecrated in the year 393 by St Ambrose of Milan, it was the first cathedral of Florence. Rebuilt in the 11th century, it was completely restructured in 1418 by Filippo Brunelleschi and finished in 1461 by Anotonio Manetti. Beneath the dome an inscription records the burial of Cosimo il Vecchio de'Medici. A masterpiece of Florentine renaissance architecture, San Lorenzo has works by Donatello, Filippo Lippi, Desiderio da Settignano, Rosso Fiorentino and Bonzino. In the Old Sacristy, designed by Brunelleschi and decorated by Donatello, is Verrocchio's monument to Giovanni and Piero de'Medici. Mechelangelo's New Sacristy, with the tomb of Lorenzo the Magnificent, is reached through the Chapel of the Princes. The 15th century cloister gives access to the Laurentian Library
