Take the Elevator to the Top of the Campanile...
The bell tower was completed at the beginning of the 12th century. The first representations from the 15th century depict a structure pretty similar to the present day bell tower. Excep it was topped by a high pyramid shaped spire.
The bell tower has reached a height of 100m and is the highest point of Venice thus offering a wonderful sight of the city. Not only the views are great, you get an up-close-and-personal look at the big bells that you’ll hear ringing out the time all over the city. If you want to avoid getting your ears blown off, I’d advise making the trip to the top of the tower at something other than the hour mark. It can really be a deafening experience as my brother had attested to it.
Opening hours:
October-March 9:45am-4pm;
