Buy Home Brand
Melbourne's standard of living is comparably on a high side coming from where bflygal is from. Thus to save money and if you are not picky in food, try buying home brand for certain daily necessities e.g. rice, salt, pepper.. cereals too though I have to admit the cereals doesn't taste very crispy for home brand.
And home brand refers to the particular grocery chain, either Woolsworth or Coles, the two I frequented regularly.
Another home brand to curb my chicken biscuits craving!
